Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality Assessment

Communication with Stakeholders

Our stakeholders, such as unitholders, tenants, vendors, service providers, suppliers, employees and the wider community, are essential to our business decision-making processes. We engage our stakeholders regularly to gather feedback and insights, which play a vital role in informing our long-term sustainability strategy and addressing any concerns, particularly those related to climate risks.

Materiality Assessment

Our materiality analysis is fundamental to our long-term sustainability strategy, enabling us to identify and thoroughly understand the sustainability topics most relevant to our operations. During the Reporting Year, Prosperity REIT engaged a third-party consultant to conduct a stakeholders survey to gain insights into their expectations regarding the REIT’s sustainability performance and their views on PREIT’s material financial risks and opportunities. The materiality assessment was conducted in 4 stages:

  1. Identification
To identify sustainability-related material topics relevant to our operations, we reviewed the 16 sustainability topics from previous years against global sustainability megatrends and peers in the real estate industry, as well as local and international reporting standards.
  2. Engagement
Prosperity REIT gathered feedback and opinions from both internal stakeholders (employees of the REIT Manager) and external stakeholders (unitholders/investors, tenants, property management employees, contractors/ suppliers, NGOs, etc.) through an online survey.
  3. Prioritisation
Prosperity REIT considered its stakeholder feedback and prioritised the identified sustainability topics based on their significance to the REIT’s cash flow, access to finance or cost of capital.
Among the sustainability topics identified, 5 topics were considered most material. Service quality and tenant satisfaction was the most material topic identified with the other material topics in decreasing order of materiality: Energy efficiency, Tenant health and safety, Occupational health and safety and Business ethics.
The materiality assessment results for 2025 are presented in the below materiality matrix.
  4. Validation
The results of the materiality assessment were reviewed and approved by the Board and the Sustainability Steering Committee.
